Another Wee trip?
It’s been over a year since I last posted probably… and I’m excited to report I’m going on a trip very soon back to either NZ or to Europe. Either way I will make sure to keep my wonderful blog updated. Yay for travel! In other news, my friend just started her own travel website- check it out!

New Zealand in Crisis →
If any of you have been following the news- this is really terrible. My heart goes out to all who are in the midst of this crisis.

Month in review!
I’ve finally moved into a new place- right in the heart of Cambridge. It’s quaint, and lovely, a bit set back from the road, so it’s very quiet and peaceful. My room is on the far left hand side of the building- so the prosperity section- if you’re into feng shui! I find that very suitable considering how much I am thankful for these days. Abundance is a state of mind I try...

Re-entering 'life'
So I haven’t written in ages. It’s not for the sake of not wanting to write, more like I’ve been going through various stages of re-acclimating to life in the US. Mostly I find it really hard. I think I forget that when you travel you leave people, things, places behind. And they, of course, move on with their lives- as we all would do- but for some reason I just wasn’t...

desolation and creation barking dogs, wild flower invitation keep out! Keep alive Shouts of dismay, greetings of warmth i cannot translate this language Wash and dry ramshackle houses street to street, it processes me. Cranes of silver in sunset unveiled abandoned furry unicorns towering pines, and broken fences this oak-land seeds my imagination. Wonder engulfs fear hummingbirds and gospel church...

Gili 2
We finally found better internet, so I can go into some details about my trip.. YAY!! Gili Air is really chill and totally what we wanted- we are staying in basic basic bungalow, with bucket flush toilet in a little outdoor area, with shower (hose out of the top of the wall ). We got it for 250000 which is about 27-29$ a night, between the two of us and includes breakfast. The bonus is we wake up...

Gili Islands
Its been 7 days since my last post. Sounds like I’m an alcoholic! No seriously, no internet in remote places so it’s been not as easy as I thought to actually write my last adventures. But just to keep up the postin’s - Ubud was beautiful and full-on. We did a cooking class, a silversmithing class, and then watched an amazing fire dance show - the show having a special...

Indonesia Bali-fied
I am sitting in the visitor internet center in a place called Ubud, which is sort of in the heart of Bali. It is the spiritual/ art heart of Bali- everywhere you see galleries, and various shows, and the air is thick with the smell of incense and heavy with rain. It’s not as hot as other parts of Bali, I’ve been told, but it’s definitely island temp. Bali is a small island in the...

Get off the bus
Today, I got off two or three bus stops before my destination because I wanted to walk part of the way. And I was rewarded for it! As I got off the bus- which is right next to Victoria Park downtown, I heard what sounded like a bunch of out of tune bagpipers. I started walking towards them, and sure enough, it was a bagpipe band tuning up and practicing. The sound echoed through the park, and I...

Hyman Bloom
I am not one to brag, but I’m just SO excited about this- the film I was working on before I left on this journey south has made it into the Woods Hole Film Festival!!!! Check it out : http://www.filmthreat.com/festivals/22674/ I am beyond happy that this has made it this far. I’m also sad I missed the premiere in Boston a few months back. This is my shout to one of my favorite...

So I think I’ve learned my lesson with Final Cut Pro, I’m going back to AVID after this project. It’s just not a program that’s meant to do large projects, and be able to media manage at the same time. Grrrr. On other fronts- I went to Christchurch a few weeks back and I just had my birthday last weekend! I can’t believe it’s already May. Things are moving...

Clothing optional?
Haha, just wanted to get your attention. But actually I am thinking of taking a burlesque class. Seems like its all the rage suddenly for women! And it’s more my style really- I love dance and hey why not? Or maybe I should go for pole dancing…I put it out there. Discuss. Another day in AKL! I’m definitely heading towards 18 months now in New Zealand, and I waiver still between...

soon-ish
I keep meaning to post more, but then I get caught up in life. How did that happen?? Well I guess it’s more that my work is taking over my life at the moment. I love it but it’s time consuming or all encompassing. My brain can only take so much!! Well lets see, I’ve learned about poi; eaten at the fishmarket and listening to jazz on a thursday night; watched storms chase each...

Some tidbits of the awesome blues fest I ventured to a few weeks ago. I went by myself for most of it, but was happily joined by some friends later on. I was impressed by the music, but unimpressed by the kiwi crowds- most of them just stood around as if at tea!! Anyway, the latin music got some going at least :)

Tsunami!
Yes there was a predicted Tsunami here in NZ yet again. It was all because of the horrible earthquake in Chile. Thankfully I don’t know anyone who was hurt. Anyway, they predicted it would hit yesterday morning, and I was just about to go for a swim. This is the second Tsunami warning I’ve experienced since being in New Zealand, along with a few minor earthquakes. Well I haven’t...

Apes in all of us
Okay, this is really a post off-life topic. It’s more a ‘whats-going-on-in-my-head’ musing about things that are challenging me. So here goes. Recently I had a huge argument with a friend about whether or not he believe in Evolution, which he didn’t and I do, but I couldn’t seem to come up with the witty, smart, and pointed comebacks that I was so hoping would change...

2010
It is the 2nd month in 2010, and I feel like time has flown by, once again. I’m perched in a room overlooking the ocean, more specifically-the now dormant volcano Rangitoto. In the distance, on a good day, I can see Coromandel- the beautiful off shoot of land where I spent my christmas this year again. It’s quite a spectacular view, aside from the crazy wind that’s been blowing...

On the move...again
I’m back on a plane- heading back to the ‘better’ hemisphere, as my friend calls it, although my friends back home would probably disagree. I think I’m just lucky to be traveling again. Before I go into detail about the plane I’m on, and the fact that I’m writing this blog from the plane (its got free wifi), I thought I’d try to write a little about my...

Thanksgiving
Today is a day of gratitude and thanks in the US. A day to celebrate abundance, health, family, and home. I am definitely grateful for many things this year- my amazing friends and family, the incredible journey I experienced and am still experiencing called life. And the luxury I have of being able to travel thousands of miles away to study, live and love a different culture and country. My...

Counting down
Greetings all blog post followers! I have been horribly negligent in posting, I’m embarrassed to say. It just means I’ve had many things happen, most of which have to do with my impending departure from this hemisphere. :( In a few days, I will be back on the plane to the US, after my visa runs out. I’m hoping that I may be able to come back soon because I’m loving the...

October fuzz
My travels are slowly coming to an end for a while! The days before I leave to return to the US are growing shorter. I’ve extended my ticket- again- to leave on the 11th of November. The final frontier! If any of you have paid attention to the news, you may have heard of the Tsunami that hit Samoa in the last few weeks? Yes, that was the location I was supposed to head to for a week of...

It’s been an eventful few weeks since I last wrote. I have finally given my notice to the ‘Wicked’ culture, giving a short but definitely poignant lecture to the CEO about consistency and customer satisfaction. I’m not sure how he took it, although I was still employed up until today. In any event, I am just glad to be done with this work, it was definitely an adventure I...

No Worries
‘No Worries’ is a kiwi saying. And it’s caught on with me, it’s actually a really great phrase. Especially after a weekend that I’ve just been through. I know I’ve changed when I’m presented with several stressful situations, and the first thing I do is laugh. Laugh at the ridiculous and hilarity of life, and of human nature. So let me preface this by...

Win lose Win?
I’ve never won a competition. I’ve placed 3rd in a piano competition. But never first. So it didn’t surprise me that I didn’t get the Vietnam scholarship. I have to say, compared to what some others submitted, my little video was just not good enough. Which made me realize I didn’t put my all into it. I could have gone out and really found a topic, an experience, a...

August
It’s August! But feels like November. I am now in my new flat- painting, renovating, playing with my flat mate’s girls (8 and 10). Great kids, but what a handful! They really wanted to help me paint, but ended up bickering at each other the whole time. Ahh brings back memories of my sister and I. Now we are very close, so I hope they will be too. I’ve got some silly photos of the...

Post my pretty, post!
I finally have some travel news! I’m heading down to the South Island to the mighty mighty land of skiing, snowboarding, and frigid temperatures. Yay! Strange I am. But really, very excited! It’s my first ‘vacation’ in a few months since I’ve been saving money for my future travels. I’m going down for the August weekend of the 15th to the 19th. It’s going...

SCAM
Okay so I’m sure many of you know I’m gullible, but really I’m a good person who always looks for the good in other people. And today. I got SCAMMED at work. I can’t believe it! An older man in a suit walked in, very flustered. He tried telling me this sob story that his car is parked closeby and he locked his keys in the car, and he needed to get a cab to get his spare key...
