Post my pretty, post!
I finally have some travel news! I’m heading down to the South Island to the mighty mighty land of skiing, snowboarding, and frigid temperatures. Yay! Strange I am. But really, very excited! It’s my first ‘vacation’ in a few months since I’ve been saving money for my future travels. I’m going down for the August weekend of the 15th to the 19th. It’s going to be shocker compared to Auckland, but I get to pick up those hiking boots I left at Kate and Jan’s so long ago! How things work themselves out.
In other news, I’m moving into another flat outside of town that is much much cheaper, and close to the other depot. My ‘landlord/flatmate’ told me I can do whatever I want with the room (how VERY exciting) so I’m thinking of making it into my comfy cozy little place in the world. And he just got a cat, so I’ll have some company. I am missing my own little dachsie at home- Isabel. She’s going through a hard time right now. Her tail got infected, and she wouldn’t leave it alone, so they are going to give her tail a snip snip. Anyway, my thoughts go out to you Izzy! Hope you get lots of bones to chew on, and a big kiss! I know she’s being spoiled by Ms. J9 so she’s in good hands. But I still miss her!
Auckland has been treating me well all told. I’ve been catching up with friends at various little bars (check out the Wine Cellar and Cafe Verona on K Road), walking to and from work (which I will sorely miss at my new place) and recently joined the library which cost a whopping $70. Had I joined way back in November last year, it would cost me zilch, but because I am only here for a few months, they charge. I get $40 of it back before I leave. But still.
It’s an amazing library though- I can rent out DVDs, CDs, foreign books (I just got a novel in German), and has a very nice layout. It’s very posh compared to what you might expect from a public library. And me being the geek I am, love it there :)
