Counting down

Greetings all blog post followers! I have been horribly negligent in posting, I’m embarrassed to say. It just means I’ve had many things happen, most of which have to do with my impending departure from this hemisphere. :( In a few days, I will be back on the plane to the US, after my visa runs out. I’m hoping that I may be able to come back soon because I’m loving the Roller Derby project, and would love to see it finished. All things in moderation, I have many things to contend with in the Eastern Hemisphere, most of which have to do with finances (oh yeah that!!). I hope I’ll have some divine intervention funding to get me back to Auckland. Besides, who would want to miss NZ summer??

At the moment, I’ve taken a little holiday to Syndey to visit a good friend, Wanda, who is traveling in Oz. She was one of the first people I met in Auckland and we’ve kept in touch ever since. Ah the travellers lifestyle! If you remember I was here a few months ago for Mardi Gras. My how a few months can make such a difference! Syndey is a nice city, but it isn’t one that I can imagine myself living in for now. For one, it’s ridiculously expensive now that the exchange rate is in favor of the Aussie dollar. The US and Aussie dollar are one to one meaning everything that was expensive before is now doubly so. Imagine paying $6.99 for a kilo of apples, or 4-5 bucks for a cup of joe. It’s all a bit silly really. And the rents are ridiculous as well, reminds me of NY on a bad day! All in all though, I’m glad I got to go back, hang out in the cafe culture, visit the notorious Bondi beach, and realize how much I’ve become a Kiwi! You never know till you leave right?

Anyway, once I have time, I will post pictures of Sydney- and the amazing artwork at Bondi beach. That isn’t going to be for a bit because I don’t have much internet access, and New Zealand is really horrible with wireless. That’s one thing I won’t miss. In a few days time I’ll be posting from Boston!!! Feels really really strange actually. I’m preparing for serious culture shock.
