2010

It is the 2nd month in 2010, and I feel like time has flown by, once again. I’m perched in a room overlooking the ocean, more specifically-the now dormant volcano Rangitoto. In the distance, on a good day, I can see Coromandel- the beautiful off shoot of land where I spent my christmas this year again. It’s quite a spectacular view, aside from the crazy wind that’s been blowing through Auckland lately. I wonder if it’s a wind of things to come….

Most of my time has been spent working on this film, which is coming along nicely. We have a rough cut screening next week, which is good because I think fresh eyes can tell us what we’re not seeing. Sounds strange to say ‘fresh eyes’ but it’s really true. And yesterday I submitted an extension for my visa to see if I can stay through till April. Keep your fingers crossed! I have to say I’m über thankful for being able to be here in the first place, and do what I love, and enjoy kiwi summer. I’ve met some really wonderful people, making Auckland a place of 2 degrees separation… unlike 6 in Boston. It’s funny, and heartwarming to walk into a party where I thought I knew no one, and realize I know two. In a city I’ve only just lived in for a few months.

Aside from that, I’ve managed to tear my thigh muscle trying to strut my stuff at a roller derby practice. Seriously. We were just learning how to fall, and ooops! my legs just said- yeah you haven’t used us in ages so don’t go doing silly things. It’s healing, but now I have this strange scar on my upper thigh. Serves me right! I’m now doing yoga 3-4 times a week to heal it properly, and gain some strength to maybe, just maybe try it again! Once you’re on skates, it’s just fun!

I’m planning on spending a little time updating my flickr photos, so that I can post them here. Some of the photos date back to when I left Auckland in November! To find the time!! Oh, and in other news as well (lots to update) I am working on another music video. Should be interesting. The last one was well received by the band (midnight youth) although it’s not quite the kind of video I’d create- it seemed they liked it. Kudos!
